Poo pit installation
Step 1: Inspection of Poo Pit
The installer shall inspect the delivered product to confirm the Poo Pit is free of any obvious defects that may have been caused during handling/delivery to site.
Step 2: Preparing the site
The installation location must be compacted, screeded flat, and level.
Scallop out approximately 50mm of levelled sand to accommodate the base of the Poo Pit bulb, and place the Poo Pit in location.
Step 3: Connection of downstream outlet
The connection of the downstream female socket to the downstream pipe is achieved using a standard PVC solvent cement joint, or rubber ring joint, in accordance with WSAA requirements.
Check the level immediately after connection by placing a level across the top of the vertical riser.
Step 4: Compacting the Poo Pit into place
Place clean sand around the bottom of the Poo Pit and then pack or tamp into place as per installation of a standard PVC sewerage piping system.
Step 5: Connection of the upstream inlets
Connect into the Poo Pit female upstream spigots using the standard PVC Solvent cement joint, or rubber ring joint, in accordance with WSAA requirements.
Step 6: Connecting the vertical riser
Connect a 225mm PVC pipe into the female socket at the top of the Poo Pit, using the standard PVC Solvent cement joint. Cut the riser pipe to the appropriate length, then connect the PVC gas-tight cap.
Step 7: Backfill
Carefully backfill and compact in accordance with standard practice for deep sewerage works.
Note: If joining using PVC solvent cement, standard pre-cleaning must be performance in accordance PVC pipe specifications.
