Description:
Flex-Seal Standard Couplings are principally designed for joining pipes in sewerage, drainage and other non-pressure applications. Their use has revolutionised traditional repair methods.
The outer stainless steel shear ring provides excellent resistance to heavy earth loads and shear forces, helping to ensure pipe alignment whilst allowing joint flexibility. Flex-Seal Standard Couplings are particularly suitable for making repairs or additions to any pipeline. Due to their rugged design and excellent sealing capabilities they have the ability to provide a reliable seal on rough pipe surfaces such as concrete, and a higher performance seal on smooth surfaces such as PVCu.
When used with Flex-Seal Bushes, these couplings can be used as adaptors between pipes of widely differing outside diameters. In all cases, when the difference in outside diameters to be joined exceeds 12mm, a Bush should be used.
Whilst the application of neat cement grout to smooth the sealing area on concrete pipes will improve the sealing performance of the couplings it is now only necessary where surface imperfections (pitting, air holes etc.) exceed 15mm diameter, eliminating the need for grout in most situations.
Applications:
Flex-Seal Standard Couplings when used individually or together with bushes have many applications in the construction, repair or maintenance of pipelines.
These include:
- As a joint for plain ended pipes
- Repair of existing pipelines
- Making ‘post’ construction connections to existing sewers
- As an adaptor between pipes of different sizes or materials
